Four Mile volunteers are an integral part of our organization, and they help to fulfill our mission in a vareity of ways. From providing tours to grounds maintenance to assisting with educational programming, volunteers are engaged in preserving Four Mile's unique story and sharing it with visitors of all ages.
We provide training for volunteers in a variety of interest areas. Current opportunities are listed online through VolunteerMatch. If we are not accepting new volunteers in an area of interest to you, please join our waitlist so that you can be contacted when a position becomes available. If your application is selected for further consideration, you will be contacted for an interview/orientation. Those who are 18 and older must pass a background screening. Volunteers are expected to provide excellent customer service, be flexible in accepting assigments, and enjoy working with others.
Facilitate hands-on children's education activities for school programs, birthday parties, and special events throughout the year.
Four Mile House provides the setting for a fascinating view of middle class, rural life interpreted from 1859 to 1899. Lead visitors through the museum and around grounds while explaining its history from the settling of Colorado through the present day.
Create a welcoming atmosphere for Park visitors in our retail shop. Ring out purchases and assist staff with gift shop maintenance.
Lend your skills to our sewing, quilting, blacksmith, or summer kitchen groups. Demonstrators provide a glimpse into 19th-century rural life as well as hands-on experiences for visitors during special events, educational programming, and Living History Day.
Four Mile Historic Park offers a number of annual events each year. Provide customer service to visitors by assisting with food service, set-up, clean-up, and other station duties.
Gardens and Grounds
Help maintain the grounds of our 12-acre site by lending a hand with weeding, gardening, mowing, clean-up, and other outdoor tasks.
Student Volunteer Program (ages 13-18)
Student volunteers are active in a variety of areas throughout the park. Assist with grounds maintenance, special events, and educational programming, including summer camp.
