Volunteers Make It Happen
The success of the programs at Four Mile Historic
Park is due in large part to the willingness and dedication of
our
volunteer
staff. We will train you according to your specified area of
interest. Our sewing group will work with you to provide an
historical costume. We also offer ongoing training and enrichment
classes.
Visit Four Mile Historic Park and see what we are
all about. Our volunteers and staff will be delighted to discuss
volunteer
opportunities with you.
You are invited to attend one of our monthly orientation
and training sessions for prospective volunteers. Please call
us at 720-865-0812 to find out when the next one is scheduled.
Four Mile Historic Park is located at 715 S. Forest Street,
Denver, CO 80246. Click here to view a

To

this volunteer form (pdf 364KB). If you are not
18 years old you will need to have your parent approve your
participation by signing the form. Send the completed form to
the Volunteer Coordinator by fax: 720-865-0801 or drop it off when you visit
the park.
Volunteer Opportunities
Four Mile offers a wide
variety of opportunities according to individual interest and
time availability. Among these are:
CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS
If you love to work with
children, we need your help with our School Group Programs,
Summer Camp and other children’s
activities. Most take place on weekdays, although our Heritage
Events also offer great opportunities to work with young
children.
CRAFTS, ETC.
If you have a pioneer-era craft, skill or hobby you would like
to share with others, your demonstration would enrich our Heritage
Events and bring added interest to a tour of the grounds.
GARDEN & GROUNDS
Love to work outdoors? Indulge your passion for herb and/or
vegetable gardening, or just help with the maintenance of our
beautiful rural setting.
GIFT SHOP CLERKS
Our Gift Shop helps provide income for Four Mile by offering
relevant souvenirs and books to visitors.
HERITAGE EVENTS
Four Mile Historic Park offers a variety of yearly events centered
around its pioneer history. We need volunteers to perform a
wide variety of tasks that make these events a success.
SEWING GROUP
Our Sewing Group makes costumes for the volunteers, items to
sell in the Gift Shop, and quilts for fundraisers. The group
meets on a weekday once a month. Even if you have no sewing
experience, we will be happy to teach you.
TOUR GUIDES
Four Mile House gives a fascinating view of middle class, rural
life from the 1860s through the 1880s. Guides conduct visitors
through the museum while explaining its history and Denver’s
transition from the pioneer to the modern era.
TRAIL GUIDES
For the pioneers, going West was an arduous adventure. We will
teach you the fascinating history of the trails west and their
contribution to the settlement of Denver, so you can bring this
period to life for our visitors.
WRANGLERS & TEAMSTERS
Experienced teamsters drive our horse-drawn vehicles, one of
our biggest attractions to visitors of all ages. Our horses
are stabled on the premises, and we need Wranglers to help with
horse and harness care under the supervision of the Teamsters.
Teamsters are selected from the most experienced Wranglers and
are provided with intensive training.
Do you have an idea for another way you’d like to
volunteer? Please call us at 720-865-0812 and tell us. Our volunteers
and staff are eager to hear your ideas.
