Four Mile volunteers are an integral part of our organization, and help to fulfill our mission in a variety of ways. From education and events to grounds maintenance, volunteers are an integral part in preserving Four Mile’s unique story, and sharing it with visitors of all ages!
Education volunteers assist with field trips, summer camps, birthday parties, and other outreach programs for students. We especially need education volunteers during our springtime Wagon Wheels field trip program!
Lend your skills to our sewing, quilting, blacksmithing, or other skill groups! Demonstrators provide a glimpse into 19th-century rural life as well as hands-on experiences for visitors during special events and educational programs.
Help maintain the grounds of our 12-acre site by lending a hand with weeding, gardening, mowing, clean-up, paddock maintenance, and other outdoor tasks.
Docents lead tours through the historic Four Mile House, and make history come alive for our guests. Docents are welcome to (but don’t have to) wear costumes from our costume collection while giving tours!
Volunteers of all ages help out at our events! Whether it’s helping guests at our craft stations, running a prairie game station, or instructing guests on how to build their own scarecrow, these volunteers always have a blast!
We provide training for volunteers in a variety of interest areas. You will need to submit an application and attend an orientation in order to volunteer at the Park. Those who are 18 and older must pass a background screening.
Our volunteers engage visitors, are flexible in accepting assignments, and enjoy working with others. We hope to see you soon!
